Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Lemon Chiffon Crueller Beer Review:

A preamble: I don’t generally write about beers, because there’s not a whole lot to say overall, IMO, when it comes to beers, beer drinking, brewing, etc..   Also, I gave up beer drinking in general. There are folks out there who are a lot more invested in the practice than I am, and I’m generally fine with leaving it at that.  However, in this instance, I feel behooved to write about beers in the “wacky” category (which seems to be the general trend with beers out of Rogue brewery) and I will do so here.

Appearance: A golden brown that went through the car wash and got washed out with yellow.  I like the color and I imagine it is due to the lemon flavoring that it is tinged with yellow.

Smell: The lemony goodness of Pine-Sol, baby!  Plus, a bit of a disinfectant-y alcohol aroma.  Not terrible, if you like lacquer.

Taste: Mild, bland, with a lemon chaser.  Its not the worst beer I’ve tasted, but it’s the first that made me think someone accidentally dropped a gallon of lemon juice (or worse, the aforementioned Pine-Sol, infra) into the brewing vat.  Does leave a pleasant lemony aftertaste on the palate that I enjoy.

Feelers: Seems a bit over-carbonated, but otherwise crisp.

Overall: Not something so wretched that I cannot stand drinking it, this beer is actually drinkable to me (and I generally avoid beers as a rule now).  However, it is doubtful that I will be able to finish this 750 ML bottle.  I imagine this is light-years better than the Rogue Sriracha Stout sitting in my fridge.  Thanks for reading.
